Well Xanga...a lot has changed since December.  As I type this, i'm in my dorm at ISU.  ISU, yep.  ISU wasn't even on the list of colleges i was considering in December.  Funny how things change, huh?  Well, I have to tell you, I couldn't be happier with my choice of coming to ISU.  Sure, the first few nights were really hard...I wanted nothing more than to just go home and be in my own house.   I'm glad I stayed though, haha.  I really couldn't be happier.  People say high school is the best four years of your life...but i guarantee you that they're wrong.  I think high school would've been a lot better if I had the same outlook I have now.  I'm starting to really not care what people think about me anymore...I'm learning that it's useless and that there's people out there that will love you for the person you are and you don't have to worry about anything.  Ah, college is so great.  I love my classes...well most of them..haha.  The homework is pretty insane, but I actually feel like it's worthwhile, and study groups are fun =)  I just want to always be happy while I'm here...i know how fast these four years will go.  I know i'll never have another chance to be a college freshmen so I want to do my best to make it a great experience.  Alright, well I better get back to my paper.  Thanks for always bein' there, xanga..and GO REDBIRDS. =D

It's been almost a year since my last entry.  I guess it's time for a little update, or something. haha.

Lately my mind has been consumed with thoughts towards the future.  So much that all of my thoughts and worries are just mushed together and I never really make any progress on sorting them out because there are just way too many of them.  I've been thinking some about college and it really overwhelms me.  These college thoughts lead to thoughts of me not really knowing at all what I want to do or what I want to make of myself.  I guess everyone goes through this stage sometime in their life, a stage when they're not really sure about anything.  I know that I'm ready to go away to school.  Well, I guess I dont know.  (see, constantly second guessing myself. geesh.)

I'm a little stuck between 3 choices.

1) ICC  --ICC is a good idea because I'd save a lot of money and I could still live at home and then have more time to think about what I want to do later.

2) Eastern  --Eastern is appealing to me because it's small and I could be in the honors program.  I could probably get more scholorships and its just less expensive.  You can rent your books so that'll save money, too.  They also have the student exchange program..which would be really cool.  It's kind of far away, though, and I'm afraid that being in honors would be a lot like high school.  When I visited, I loved the way the campus was set up.  Everything in walking distance.  I guess Eastern would just be comfortable for me..which is both good and bad.

3) University of Illinois  --U of I would be good because it's a good school. haha.  Since i'm not really sure what I want to do, U of I has a lot of options and it's closer to home.  It's really big, though..so I dont know if I'd like that.  You couldn't just walk to all of your classes (something you can do at eastern.)  It might be fun to "step out of the box" (for me, atleast) and go to a bigger school.  I'd always said it was too big and I wouldnt like it..but maybe I would?  I dont know.

so there's the news.  so many choices!

Recently I've been getting a lot in the mail about college.
College isn't that far off anymore.
When I was little, I used to think that the year 2007 would never come.
It's almost here!
Weird.

Remember when...

Before the MySpace frenzy.

Before the Internet & text messaging.

Before Sidekicks & iPods.

Before PlayStation2 or X-BOX.

Before the 5 hours of homework you put off every night.

When you rented VHS tapes, not DVDs.

When gas was $0.95 a gallon & Caller ID was a new thing.

When we recorded stuff on VCRs & paid $3.50 for a movie.

When we called the radio station to request songs to hear off our walkmans.

When $5 seemed like a million

When you begged to go to McDonalds for dinner everyday.

When Toys R Us overuled the mall.

Go back to the time when..

Decisions were made by going 'eeny-meeny-miney-moe'.

Mistakes were corrected by simply exclaiming 'do over!'

Money issues were handled by whoever was banker in 'Monopoly'.

Being old referred to anyone over 20.

A chance to skate as a couple at the local roller rink was like winning the lottery.

Nobody was prettier than Mom.

Nobody was cooler or stronger than Dad.

Scrapes & bruises were kissed & made better.

It was a big deal to finally be tall enought to ride the 'big people' rides at the fair.

When playing Nintendo was the hardest thing ever.

When Ninja Turtles ruled the world.

Those were the days.. =)
